French Impressionist Reproduction Paintings

French impressionists tried to capture the momentary effect of light, using thick, loose brush strokes of contrasting colors, often painting outdoors (plein air) to capture landscapes and contemporary everyday French life.  The term “impressionism” was given to this style of painting in a derisory review by art critic, Louis Leroy, after seeing Claude Monet’s painting, titled: Impression, Sunrise (see my reproduction of this painting below.)  Please click on each painting to view it in greater detail.

My original reproductions of impressionist paintings shown in my gallery, and art prints from any of these paintings, are available for purchasePlease click on Contact The Artist for more information.
